On Monday, Aug. 22, the Steamboat Springs Community Preservation Alliance received notice that Routt County District Judge Michael O’Hara had rejected a lawsuit against the City of Steamboat Springs short-term rental tax. This was a request for an immediate injunction to allow us to gather signatures to oppose the punitive short-term rental tax proposal.

This decision is disappointing as we felt confident that if we had prevailed, we would have succeeded in slowing down the aggressive legislation targeting STRs. This would have allowed the community to regroup and reach consensus on a balanced solution to fund housing in the community.
